Aris FC goes to court to try to cancel its contract with Freddy Adu. The 21-year old USA attacker has failed to play a game with Aris this season and is out of manager Hector Cuper’s plans and the club want to terminate his current deal according to the club’s media officer Chrisanthos Tsaltidis.
Jesualdo Ferreira, former FC Porto and Malaga coach, signs 18-month contract with Greek football champions Panathinaikos. Ferreira replaces interim Polish coach Jacek Gmoch who had stepped in briefly after Nikos Noplias resigned over the team’s poor performance in the UEFA Champions’ League.
An investigation into match-fixing allegations is ordered after UEFA hands over to the Greek General Secretariat for Sports a list of 15 suspect matches. The documents refer to four teams, which during the 2009-2010 season competed in the Super League, eight teams competing in the Second Division and one team which competed in the third division, a statement by the Greek authorities said. A similar investigation is already underway based on a previous file sent by UEFA, including 27 suspicious matches from the 2008-09 season.
