Film: Nikos Nikolaidis Box Set

All of the late Athenian cult director’s feature films are now contained in a digitally-remastered box set. Through his writing and shoestring-budget films, Nikolaidis defiantly challenged the status quo without a dogma. He’s not for everyone, but each generation, a devoted following memorizes his witty, irrelevant one-liners and is enthralled by inyour-face stance on life, sex, politics and all else. The films include: once-banned, post-junta tale Euridice ΒΑ 2037 (1975); outcasts’ reunion The Wretches Are Still Singing (1979); surveillance-filled hedonistic story Sweet Bunch (1983); apocalyptic totalitarian urban wander Morning Patrol (1987); morbid romance Singapore Sling (1990); purgatorial love story See You in Hell, My Darling (1999); gangster romp Loser Takes All (2002); state-run brothel film The Zero Years (2005); plus 1962 experimental short Lacrimae Rerum.
