Film: Shutterbug

Directed by Minos Papas. Featuring Nando DelCastillo, Doug Barron, Ariel Blue Sky, Brent Mole, Stanislava Stoyanova. 91 minutes.

“I’m a photographer, I trust my eyes,” the hero of second-generation filmmaker Minos Papas’s debut film utters. But his crisp vision is stained by
sunspots and flashes of light that eventually lead him away from the slick surface of his life. He casts aside a successful fashion photography career, a loving girlfriend, and a cozy New York City apartment in exchange for a journey largely set under (and over) the shadows of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. Winner of an Indie Award, the film has a retro feel – as it philosophizes and visually experiments. Papas hails from Cyprus and was born in the U.K. Composer Tao Zervas says the Greek forest fires of 2007 inspired the haunting soundtrack.
